16.04.08 | The UMMC invests 462 million roubles to technically re-equip the KZ OTsM

In 2007 the UMMC invested 462 million roubles into technical re-equipment of the JSC “KZ OTsM” (part of the processing complex UMMC). The enterprise allocated 381 million roubles for the “Increased Flat Rolled Stock Output Volume” investment program and capital construction, 70.5 – for replacing and upgrading the out-of-repair equipment, and 10.5 – for purchasing new equipment.

The year of 2007 saw the installation of the German company SMS Meer continuous casting line and the Danielli Frohling cold rolling mill. This was done under the investment program aimed at installing the modern complex with the full metallurgical cycle from melting and casting to producing bands 25μ thickness at the KZ OTsM.

Last year under the program for replacing and upgrading out-of-repair equipment the KZ OTsM reconstructed the semi-continuous casting machine and hot rolling mill heating furnaces. Additionally, there have been introduced automatic systems for the hot rolling mill, reversing cold rolling mills, and bell-type furnaces in the rolling shop were installed. The new equipment will ensure higher quality of the production: more precise geometrical sizes, better mechanical properties and metal inner structure, increased finished product output volume, reduced labour-intensiveness.

According to the KZ OTsM chief engineer Alexandr Ryaposov the enterprise’s investments into the technical re-equipment of the plant in 2007 have been twice as much against the previous year.
